Classic Overland had the honor of shooting the Union Jack in front of the historic Manor House at Laborie Wine Estate in Cape Town, South Africa. Laborie is special to our Overland Land Rover team as it was the first place where Stebin met his future brother-in-law and business partner, Gerhard du Toit.
A Special Place
Firstly, Laborie Wine Estate sits in the shadow of the Paarl Mountains where Stebin asked Roos to be his wife. In addition, it’s also where Roos’ parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The Laborie Wine Estate was given to Isaac Taillefert in 1691, making it one of the oldest wine estates in Africa. In those days, the land stretched from the Paarl Mountains all the way to the Berg River.
In 1977, the Manor House was proclaimed a national monument. Some many describe this as the most important house in the Paarl area, at least from an Architectural standpoint. Classic Overland appreciates Laborie for allowing us to photograph the Union Jack at their estate. Furthermore, we’re thankful for all of the memories Laborie has created for our overland Land Rover team.
